St. Helena 1821 PCGS PR64BN Halfpenny $1495
Saint-Helena is a small volcanic island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, British territory for centuries, the island is most famously known for being the last place of residence of Napoleon Bonaparte, who was exiled to the island and died there. After his escape from the island of Elba Napoleon must have felt on the end of the world, as the closest mainland is nearly 1700 miles away. Even today there is no airport, and the island is one of the most remote places in the world, taking 5 days by boat from South-Africa, limiting tourism and perhaps interest in this rare coin. An airport is currently being build, however, and we can see this coin as one of a very limited series going up in value as a result over the next few years as more people learn about this fascinating place. Rare in any proof grade, the near-gem surfaces are virtually pristine, and the eye-appeal is excellent.
